For All Things Gaudi, I Mean Tourist - Barcelona
by mikayla
There are SO many sights to see in Barcelona that unfortunately unless you live here or spend multiple weeks here then you will never be able to see them all. One thing you need to know is that Gaudi is the most famous architect of Barcelona and his magnificent work is displayed all over the city.

La Sagrada Familia
The most famous church in Europe designed by Gaudi that won’t be finished for at least another 10 years. The inside is astonishing and if you’re going to go inside any church while you’re abroad, make it this one!!!! You need to buy tickets online ahead of time because it’s always sold out the day of.

Casa Batlló
Yet again another creation by Gaudi. It’s kind of expensive to go in here, I think about 22 euros or so, but it is really cool on the inside. If you only have a short weekend here then you can skip out on this one, but otherwise I would say definitely go inside.

Park Güell
Another famous thing by Gaudi/another must see while you’re here. I think it costs 8 euros to get into the famous picture spot here and depending on the season you go you may need to buy tickets in advance online. It’s a pretty park with cool sculptures and a million other things to take pictures in front of.

Gothic Quarter
The best district to wander and get lost in. Great food, shopping and the cutest narrow streets. Definitely one of my favorite districts of Barcelona.

Montjuïc
This is where the old olympic stadium is and their museum of art/ the magic fountain. It’s on the top of a hill and has really cool views too.

Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau
You have to pay to go inside here, so if you aren’t feeling like spending any money it’s always just a cool place to see and take a picture in front of.

More Gaudi!! His work is amazing and this place will leave you speechless. Great place for taking pictures too, but like casa batllo it’s also on the more expensive side.

Tibidabo
If you only have a few days here then you’ll probably have to skip out on this place because it is a bit of a trek. However, I loved it and I thought it was really cool. It’s the church/amusement park that you will see off into the distance on top of a mountain and wonder what it is. You can get to the bottom via metro and then take a bus that your metro pass works for to the top. The views were amazing, but If you only have a few days then I would choose the Bunkers view over this one.

The Magic Fountain
The fountain runs every Thursday to Sunday in the summer months and every Friday and Saturday in the winter months. The Magic fountain is situated in between Palau Nacional and Placa de Espanya.

Universitat de Barcelona
This is the University that I attended and I swear to you that it looked like Hogwarts on the inside. In my opinion it’s worth it to go walk through the main building because you’ll be amazed that it is an actual school.

Bunkers del Carmel
The famous viewpoint that everyone loves to visit when they come to Barcelona. The best part is getting to go here with a bottle of wine and watch the sunset over the whole city. You’ll either have to taxi here from a metro stop or take a bus from the metro stop because it’s quite an uphill trek.

The Kiss of Freedom
Approaching the kiss of freedom mural in Plaça d’Isidre Nonell you’d be forgiven for assuming that it’s a large graffiti. As you get closer you’ll realize that it is in fact a mosaic made up of thousands of tiny ceramic tiles. Each individual tile is printed with a photo of a person, a place, a moment, an event or something which in some way represents an expression freedom. Super cool artwork and definitely worth it to go and see.

The big cathedral in the gothic district. I never actually went inside, but it’s cool to look at/take pictures in front of.

Arc de Triomf
Not as cool as the one in Paris, but it is still a staple of Barcelona and a great picture spot. It is right at the opening of the parc de la ciutadella.

This is a really cool park to explore and is basically a maze on the inside. It costs less than 2 euros to go inside if I remember correctly

Brunch In The Park
Awesome local festival that happens on a bi-weekly basis in the summer months! Tickets sell out EVERY TIME so make sure you buy yours at least a month in dance if you can! It’s at the top of Montjuic mountain so the sunsets are beautiful and the techno/house music are great vibes. Take the funicular from parallel metro station
