🎉 CHARLOTTE SHOUT RETURNS IN 2022: Charlotte Shout will be back April 1-17. Uptown will fill with public art installations, livel music and street food. Blumenthal president Tom Gabbard calls it “the most inspiring festival in the southeast” with over 200 events, from concerts featuring local musicians to speaker series with internationally known thought leaders to cooking demonstrations. Most of the events will be free and open to the public.

Squirrel Lake Park

PLAYGROUND, GREENWAY, CREEKS & FISHING @ SQUIRREL LAKE PARK! Squirrel Lake Park located in Matthews is another favorite park in the CLT area. In addition to a nice playground it has a fishing pond, wooded walking trails, and connects to the Four Mile Creek Greenway. There is even a popular part of the Greenway close by with a shallow creek area where kids can play in the water. The playground caters more to older toddlers and big kids with several steep slides and climbing walls but there is a small one for younger toddlers too. The short walking trail is great for young kids since it doesn’t require too much of them. I personally love parks where there are multiple things to do in case kids get bored of something quickly and this one is perfect for that. I also like that there is a covered picnic area for eating lunch or taking a shade break.

☀️CROOKED CREEK PARK PLAYGROUND is one of our favorite parks in the area! It has a zip line, unique climbing structures and a playground built like a treehouse. In the summer months there is an awesome splash pad.

Wise Acres Organic Farm

🍓 STRAWBERRY PICKING AT WISE ACRES FARM. Wise Acres is a USDA certified organic farm that is open to families several times a year for guests to pick their own seasonal produce. Strawberry picking requires advanced reservations and does tend to sell out fast. In addition to you-pick strawberries the farm also has a barrel train ride, hayride, wood-fired pizzas, animals, and a wooded playground area with swings, riding toys, and zip lines. My kids absolutely love this place and get so excited to go back every year for strawberries and pumpkins. Here is some important info: 🍓 April 5th begins the first round signs up for April-May 7th visits. 🍓 April 19th begins the second round sign ups for May 8th - June. 🍓 Prime picking is usually late April - early May. 🍓 Weekend reservations always include pizza (it’s amazing!!) with a base price of $38 plus $3 per person admission. This includes 2 quart containers of strawberries. Weekdays are $2 per person plus price of strawberries. 🍓 Wagon and barrel train only operate after 4pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. Overall this is such a fun family activity in our area.

THE BEST PLAYGROUNDS FOR TODDLERS IN CLT. Finding playgrounds that are a good fit for toddlers can be hard. They need smaller scale equipment that is safe to climb and ideally a soft flooring to walk on. Each of these options have a sizeable toddler area with fun and safe features for this age.

U.S. National Whitewater Center

🍀 WATER TURNS GREEN AT WHITE WATER CENTER! The US National White Water Center will have their St. Pattys Celebration on Saturday March 12th. The event includes live music, 5k run, and green water for rafting in the afternoon.

ENJOY ALL OF THIS SUNSHINE @ RIVERWALK PARK! Riverwalk Park located just south of Charlotte in Rock Hill, SC has an awesome fully fenced playground with new equipment. It features some of the biggest slides I’ve seen in our area, a zip line, nice toddler play structure, and several unique swing options. This is definitely a playground that will wow your kids and is really unique compared to others in our area. It’s also right next to the BMX bike track so depending on timing you may be able to watch a race. My kids enjoyed climbing the bleachers to see the track from high up.

🌸 SPRING VIBES AT WAVERLY - OPEN AIR DINNING + PLACE FOR KIDS TO PLAY! This is one of my favorite warm weather spots with so many restaurant options and a green space for kids to play. The splash pad will also be open this summer.

PINEVILLE LAKE PLAYGROUND - ONE OF THE BIGGEST AND BEST IN CLT. Located near downtown Pineville, NC it has so much to offer with three different playgrounds, a splash pad, zip line ride, and beautiful pond with a walking trail. We love this one so much!

🐰 HOP TO IT EASTER EVENT! Get your hoppers ready to get those eggs! This event at Chestnut Square Park in Indian Trail will feature photos with the Easter Bunny, games, free egg hunt, crafts and prizes! This free egg hunt is open to youth 12 years old and younger.
