Lupo Verde
Lupo Verde’s homemade pastas are just as good as what you will find if you pack your suitcase, spend thousands of dollars on airfare and go to Italy. Maybe even better than some of the places you will try in Italy. My favorites are the Cacio E Pepe and the Fusilli Campani, but you really can’t go wrong.

Bluejacket
Solid brunch. I’m a sucker for the cinnamon rolls. Vibrant selection of craft beers and ciders brewed in house. Fun atmosphere.

Duke's Counter
Sister to epic Duke’s Grocery in DuPont Circle. The food is just as wonderful. This location neighbors the Smithsonian Zoo and included a kids menu.

Sushi Taro
Michelin Star sushi restaurant in DuPont Circle. Arguably the best sushi spot in D.C. Excellent happy hour special M-F with the majority of the menu 50% off. Applies to bar seating only which is limited. Get there early as people begin lining up at 5:00pm.

Duke's Grocery
A super laid-back atmosphere that is home to what I believe is the best burger in D.C.! Double-stacked and loaded up with toppings such as garlic aioli, onions and sweet chili sauce this burger is a can’t miss. Their sandwiches (“Sarnies”) are also triumphant. The menu changes frequently, but some of my past favorites have been the Duck Confit and Short Rib. You will leave happy, full and ready to plan your next visit back.

Hando medo
Good sushi in D.C. is hard to come by. It can definitely be found, but you have to dig! Hando Medo differs from a more traditional sushi restaurant in that it only serves hand rolls and seating is only bar-style. Its fresh, flavorful and high-quality. It is D.C.’s only hand roll bar (to my knowledge).

Daikaya - Ramen (1F), Izakaya (2F)
Ramen shop on the first floor. Asian fusion small plates on the second floor. Both are superb. You cannot make a reservation for first floor, but you can for second floor.

JINYA Ramen Bar
A solid go-to for Asian or ramen. The Pork Chashu Bowl is a favorite of mine, as is the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen.

Chloe
Chloe is a recent addition to D.C.’s Navy Yard but it is most certainly worthy of a spot on my list. I have been to Chloe three times, have tried over 15+ dishes and can honestly say that there was not one dish that I didn’t enjoy. The menu is eclectic and fresh. Have an open mind. You won’t be disappointed.
