Döner Harju
A kebab restaurant with not-so-medium-quality kebabs. The portions are big but the menu is not majorly extensive. They promise to have lamb and seitan kebabs every day and other meat, such as chicken, and pork on Tuesdays. I have tried all of them but nowadays I'm back to being a vegetarian. The seitan portion doesn't make you miss meat at all. The sauces and extras make a perfect doner inside a tasty focaccia. I like the one in Flemari street, or Harju neighbourhood better, which is the original one.

Social Burgerjoint
Burgers to die for! Was actually just awarded as the best street food burgers in Europe (European Street Food awards). If that doesn't make you convinced about the quality, I don't know what will. Obviously they cater for vegans/vegetarians also. The portobello burger is a must!

Fat Ramen
These guys started the whole thing with a sturdy foundation. They learned the noodle making art before actually starting to make the yummy ramen soup. The portions are huge. I go for the JaloTofu one which is just achingly good. You don't want to leave anything on your plate but there is a lot of tasty soup and toppings...

Fat Ramen
This tiny place is better suited for a take away as it it, well... tiny. However, there are a few seats if you wish to eat inside. It is fusion Asian and the prices are very moderate compared to Helsinki prices. You can choose a smaller or a bigger portion if you are very hungry. It has more meat dishes but vegetarian ones as well. Add spices according to your own taste.

Chalupa Food Machete
If you are missing some Mexican street food, you may have found your place. The original restaurant is situated in the city centre but they have opened a few more around the city. Burritos, tacos, quesadillas but also salads available if you wish to eat something not so heavy. Vegetarians have different meat substitutes to choose from and meat eaters have the usual choices. Lots of different sauces and extras to choose from if you can't decide what to have.

Twisted Street Kitchen
Another Asian fusion restaurant. This cozy restaurant is a nice place for lunch (and it is actually only open for lunch). The curries are delicious but you can also get healthy, yet tasty salads here. The portions are colourful which brighten up your day, especially if you need some comfort food during the colder months.

Jaskan grilli
This place is a Helsinki institution. But I must warn you, it's not for the fainthearted. It is a place where you go get your fix after drinking and partying all night. It is very old school burgers, hot dogs, french fries and so forth. They have very unique combos also which you can try if you are the adventurous type. Everthing gets your arteries clogged, though, I'm sure. You queue in line outside and listen to the stories from other party revellers and people who have sometimes had a bit too much to drink.

Bonci Pizzarium
This restaurant serves pizza pieces in a few different locations around town. 1 piece might not be enough for a whole lunch but would make a great snack. Two slices would make a decent lunch. I've been especially pleased with their variety of vegetarian pizzas. Sometimes the veggie portions and ingredients can be a bit bland but here that is definitely not the case. Hard to choose from all the mouthwatering options.

Friends & Brgrs
These guys really make quality burgers. They bake the buns themselves, grind the meat, triple cook their fries. You get the drill. The central location is super busy and this restaurant has spread to other cities in Finland and overseas as well. The place has got a very fastfood restaurant vibe but the food is totally worth it. And as always with my recommendations, vegetarians will leave this place satisfied.

Street Gastro
You get fantastic, high-quality sandwhiches here. The square shaped sandwiches are full of exciting and tasty fillings. There are more meat portions but vegetarians have usually 2 options to choose from. The owners actually worked in Finland's finest restaurants before but they decided to bring the quality street food to Helsinki and change the direction from fine dining to more casual food culture. And we thank them for it!
