Silverton is an almost-ghost town in the middle of the rocky moutains. You can ride the historic train from Durango through the rocky mountains to Silverton. Then go explore the "Old 100 Mine" in Silverton which is the oldest mine in the area that's open for tours!

Bear Mountain Trail - Oski Approach/Doe Mountain Parking
This trail inclines 2,000 feet in two miles, and features many false peaks which all offer a uniquely breathtaking view.

Tom's Thumb Trail
This trail is one of the most fun trails I've done in my life. It starts very gradually and goes through the rolling hills of the desert, and then finishes with a scramble at the top leading up to the huge rock known as "Tom's Thumb" because it looks like a thumb!
