Delaney Oyster House
Another great addition to the burgeoning Charleston oyster bar scene. đŸŠȘ The fried fish sandwich (actually a chopped blend of a few different fish) was decadent and delicious as were the malt vinegar fries that accompanied it!

Sushi Wa Izakaya
One of my favorite restaurants in all of Charleston, which I’ve posted about before. But the daily specials are also a great deal. They alternate a bit but definitely try the $15 Chirashi special or the $12 deal to get 2 rolls and choice of soup or salad. Other lunch specials, all made with the freshest fish in town, typically range from $10-16.

The Ordinary
I had avoided this place since moving to Charleston because I kept hearing about how over-priced it was and, frankly, we have plenty of great “raw bars” here. Well, that was just a mistake. This was easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Charleston. The “Tete de Poisson” (essentially fish cheek and collar fried in a crab cake style) is one of the tastiest dishes in town. Also spectacular was the Grilled Amberjack, the King Mackerel, the Blue Crab Cocktail, the fresh Oysters and the Littleneck Clams were fantastic. Even the veggie dishes were amazing - the Zucchini Carpaccio, the Winter Greens Salad, the Broccolini and the Sweet Potato. The desserts too were delicious, especially the Panna Cotta and the Budino. Have someone else pay though!

Chubby Fish
Chubby Fish is one of the best new restaurants in Charleston. Tucked away on a residential corner on Coming Street, the vibe is great as is the opportunity to eat at the Chef’s Bar overlooking the kitchen. Think of the food as classic oyster bar meets Asian influences. The menu changes often but the food is always fresh and local.

167 Raw
Best raw bar in town. Super small though so prepare to wait outside. Best oysters I’ve had in Charleston. Specials rotate but always outstanding ceviche, fish crudo, Ahi poke and the 10 hour pork carnita! Fish sandwich special changes daily but can’t go wrong with that or the lobster roll!

Rappahannock Oyster Bar (CHS)
Great oyster bar at the Cigar Factory. The oysters are some of the best in town and best time to get ‘em is during happy hour when they’re $1.25/each. The Smoked Fish Dip, the Baked Claims (w/ Thai Sausage) and the Oyster Po’ Boy are standouts.

Nana's Seafood & Soul
This place is an absolute gem. Hole-in-the-wall atmosphere but big taste. This is soul (sea)food at its’ best. Even Zimmern had this place on his short list when he visited Charleston recently. I highly recommend the Garlic Shrimp & Crab plate (see picture)... awesome.

Chubby Fish
One of the most knowledgeable oyster shuckers that I’ve ever met. Small selection but extremely well curated and rotating depending on the season and what’s delicious! For instance, the picture here is of oysters from North Carolina where the blue algae they feed on in Jan-Feb turn their gills this beautiful emerald green. Enjoy discounted oysters during “oyster hour” from 5-6pm from Tue-Sat.
