Leon's
Fried chicken, fried & baked oysters and mahi sandwich - one of the most popular spots around for good reason.

Martha Lou's Kitchen
Whoa - you’d be hard pressed to find better Low Country soul food than at this tiny and casual roadside joint that’s been serving up comfort food classics for over 30 years! The fried pork chops and the fried chicken are mouthwatering. The Lima beans side (with huge chunks of pork belly), the cornbread, the boiled cabbage and especially the baked Mac & cheese are all standout accompaniments. And the staff is great - fantastic personality. Like eating at your grandmothers if she could cook like this!

Nana's Seafood & Soul
This place is an absolute gem. Hole-in-the-wall atmosphere but big taste. This is soul (sea)food at its’ best. Even Zimmern had this place on his short list when he visited Charleston recently. I highly recommend the Garlic Shrimp & Crab plate (see picture)... awesome.

The Glass Onion
My favorite place for southern comfort food. The Po’ Boys are delicious - rolls are super soft and fresh. Especially the Fried Green Tomato ‘Po Boy with their homemade Pimiento Cheese (Charleston’s best I think). Get the pork belly entree when it appears. Saturday brunch is also one of the best in town. The Fried Chicken ‘Po Boy (pictured) is the best I’ve ever had (Pro Tip - ask them to add pimiento cheese to it!).
