Budapest
Budapest is the capital of Hungary and is a mix of old and new. This historical city is full of beautiful sites and delicious restaurants to fit every budget. As a solo traveler, I found Budapest very easy to navigate by metro and foot. I took the free walking tour as well as the metro around the city. Read more on my recommendations of beautiful Budapest!

Jewish Cemetery
Recommendation for the Jewish Quarter- The once Old Jewish Ghetto of WWII is slowly transforming into a hip area with fun shopping, bars and international restaurants. There are still several important Jewish establishments that remain including synagogues, memorials and a handful of Kosher restaurants.

Danube river
There are several River cruises that will take you up and down the Danube. I took a simple cruise that included a drink but there are also dinner cruises, if you want to make it special.

Szamos Marcipán Múzeum
Marzipan Museum! It is no secret that I love Marzipan so checking out this place was fun and yummy. There is a candy store adjacent to the museum where you can pick up homemade treats for the train ride back to Budapest.

Szentendre
This little town is a great day trip out of Budapest. There is a train that will take you directly into Szentendre from Budapest. It can get a bit crowded during tourist season, so start off early. This village is a nice place to wander, purchase pieces from local artists, pick up some chocolate/ marzipan and indulge on traditional dishes.

City Park
Located behind Hosok Tere or Heroes' Square, this lovely park is a nice getaway from the city. There are plenty of places to stroll, sunbathe or relax. They are paddle boats that you can take on the little lake. It is a great place with friends and family.

Free Budapest Walking Tours
I am a big fan of Free Walking Tours and Budapest has a very good one. There are several to choose from and you cannot go wrong with any of them. The City walking tour is great because you learn about the city's historical past as well as how the city has progressed. Just remember to tip at the end!

Gundel
Gundel has been one of Budapest's best upscale restaurants for over 100 years. This delicious restaurant serves traditional dishes, cocktails and they have a marvelous wine selection. I came in for lunch and indulged on Foie Gras topped Filet, Fish Soup and was paired with a lovely Pinot Noir. The experience was unforgettable.

Castle Hill
Located on the Buda side of Budapest, this hillside castle is not to be missed. You can walk up to the castle or take a taxi which I did to save time. The castle is a complex of buildings, shops and cafes. The views of the Danube River are absolutely gorgeous!

Heroes' Square is located by the Budapest's City Park. It is one of the major squares in Budapest that pays tribute to several Hungarian National Leaders. It is worth the visit if dining at Gundel's or visiting the City Park.

This apartment/ hostel was a great find. There are several bedrooms with private baths, a common area and a balcony with a great view. This apartment is on the top floor in a secured building. It is minutes from a Metro station and very close to the Old Jewish Quarter.
