Geysir
Here's why you should go to Geysir: first, it's the origin of the English word "geyser." Second, a short hike will take you past the pool of Geysir itself to neighboring Strokkur Geysir, which erupts every ten minutes or so to heights of 15 to 20 meters. Mmmmmm. Smell the sulphur.

Gullfoss Falls
You can't go to Iceland without going to Gullfoss. Powerful, unusual, multifaceted, dramatic: Gullfoss is one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the planet. A short hike will take you past the waterfall's first tier and a small meadow to a viewing area almost inside the top tier itself.
