La Oveja Tamarindo Hostel & Surf Camp
Great hostel right in the heart of Tamarindo- which is cheap and very lively. Some nights they have live music- and there is a pool table, an awesome free breakfast, pool, fast WiFi, and space to store surfboards. Awesome spot if you’re looking for something cheap with a group of friends

Playa Grande
This was where we went most often during our surf trip. Great break, far fewer crowds than the main beaches at Tamarindo, and an easy car or boat drive over. Plus it’s not on reef or rocks- all sand.

Lola's
This place was ranked as one of the top 25 best beach front restaurants in the world, and for good reason. Awesome lounge chairs and hammocks under sun soaked palm trees, great food and drinks, and an amazing view of an awesome surf break (Playa Avellana)

Volcano Brewing Company
This is where we’d go for sunset views, a great happy hour with live music (awesome mojitos), and some fun longboard waves out front if desired (depending on tide / size). Either way it’s a great sunset hangout spot for some drinks

Blue Trailz Hostel & Surf Camp
We went to quite a few shops to get a sense of costs for board rentals and this seemed to be best, and they have some good boards to pick from. Also seems like a great intimate hostel too for those looking for a stay

El Chiringuito
Great sunset restaurant spot on the beach. The food was good (nothing amazing) but the view, atmosphere, etc was fantastic. And right next door to a lively bar that you can walk to afterwards
