So yr goin 2 MOAB 🏜🌵

I've pretty much lost track of the number of weeks I've spent here - it's truly one of my favorite places on Earth. Please note that Moab and most of the Utah desert is an extremely fragile environment and excessive human traffic can be extremely destructive even without realizing it. Pay attention, educate yourself, pack out your waste, and stay on the trail! I'd love for this place to be enjoyed for many generations to come.

Not exactly affordable, but a great coop grocery store no less! Certainly more of a locals experience than the city market, that's for sure!

Kane Creek
My go-to recreation spot near Moab! If you brought your bike, check out Captain Ahab in the Amasa Back trail system. If you brought your trad rack, the Abraxas Wall and Ice Cream Parlor have the laser cut desert splitter climbs you're hounding for. Theres also some beautiful camping spots, sight seeing, and hiking further down the canyon. Don't get me wrong: the national parks in the area are incredible, and they teach you a lot about how to enjoy these extremely special places without being more destructive than you need to be. So remember to pack out your trash, relieve yourself at the toilets if possible, and be extremely careful not vandalize any cryptobiotic soils (stay on the trail always, always, always)! Pictured is my friend Ryan on the Cliffhanger trail in the Amasa Back trail system.

Peace Tree
Really solid stop for healthy/vegan/vegetarian options for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Have a seat and stay a while, or grab it to go on your way to the crag. I believe their patio is dog friendly as well! 🐶

State Liquor Store
Though it's probably not the best liquor store you'll ever run into, I'm recommending this place for all the travelers who are confused about how to buy beer in Utah 😂 If you're not up to speed, it's actually a bit complex but follow my simple rules and you'll be well on your way to drinking a tasty oat soda, whiskey or wine. Utah legislation requires that only state-run liquor stores can sell packaged alcoholic beverages above 3.2% ABV (or 4% by weight). 1) everything at the state run liquor store is unrefrigerated, so buy your beer ahead of time and put it on ice if you like it chilly. 2) the competition for good 3.2% beers in Utah is actually pretty healthy so don't be shy about grabbing a Utah craft pale ale, kolsch, etc from the gas station or grocery store. These will be cold too, so if you're extra thirsty, you can drink these while your PBRs chill a bit more. As a very general note, I'd stay away from beer styles that aren't inherently lower ABVs 'cause I don't see it as a valuable use of your time trying to find a quality double IPA at 3.2% ABV. 3) there isn't any difference in packaging between the watery 3.2% Coors banquet (or any other macro brand for that matter) and the hearty 5% you'd find in the state run liquor store, so don't be fooled. 4) whiskey is still whiskey in Utah. 🥃

Moab Garage Co.
Best coffee in town right now, by a long shot if you ask me. Outlets can be limited but otherwise it's a solid spot to get some work done. They've got some amazing ice cream, as well is a super rad, new American style food menu. Deep fried PBJ? Let's talk about it.

The Spoke on Center
Solid spot for beers and classic American fare, cool old bike stuff on the walls - nothing too crazy here, just dependable, casual, friendly.
