Visit the capital of the province La Altagracia, Higüey. Go to the Basilica minor in Higüey (Basilica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia) . Going inside is like going into a cave, it's warm , dark and calming.

See cane sugar plantations (there is still child labour on these plantations so little gifts eg. pencils or exercize books for school are always welcome (do not give money!). Visit a tobacco/cigarette factory. Visit a local farm.
