My top pick for best European weekend trip! The Azulejo (white and blue Portugese tiles) are everywhere and a trip through the Duoro valley shouldn't be missed.

Berlin
The history in Berlin is unrivaled. Museum island had some of Germany's best museums. Take a bike tour to see some of the major sites (as they are pretty spread out) and then decide from there what to go back and see again

Cologne
The Cologne Dom is one of the most visited landmarks in all of Germany. It is one of the most impressive churches I have ever seen (but don’t waste your time going up the tower as the view is not great). Instead spend your time at a typical german brewhouse, or do as the local do and grab a beer and watch the sunset along the Rhine River.

Budapest is a great weekend trip, especially during the spring when there aren't too many tourists yet but the temperatures are warming up. Don’t miss out on the Fisherman's Bastion - basting one of the best views over Budapest.
