Modist Brewing Co.
Right in the heart of North Loop, Modist keeps craft brewing hip. The space is super modern, with dynamic art pieces (such as custom painted skateboards) adorning the walls. Beers range from heavy IPAs to sours and you can always take a growler or some cans home with you. Modist's patio is the spot to be in the summer, especially when their resident food truck stops by. Finally, stop by on a Thursday night and you might catch the weekly rap battle from local artists sponsored by a Minneapolis radio station.

The Freehouse
Freehouse is one of the North Loop's hottest spots, both for eating and drinking. Located right on Washington Ave., Freehouse is the perfect place for happy hour, dinner, late night drinks or anything in between. This spot brews their own beers (with the brewing process visible behind their amazing light up sign) and also serves dinner or apps in a sit down restaurant environment. As with most Minneapolis bars/restaurants, the patio is gorgeous in summer with string up lights and trees strewn throughout. Pro tip: make a reservation online before you go! Freehouse can get super busy around happy hour and later.

Fulton Brewing Taproom
In my opinion, Fulton is best in the summer. This brewery has garage-type doors that open in the summer, which gives off a chill, later afternoon, lazy summer vibe come June or July. They're known for their Lonely Blonde brew, which can be paired with some of the yummy food they offer. I'm talking full menu. Their patio is also super Instagrammable, with greenery, lights, and their airstream.

Pryes Brewing Company
Pryes is a little off the beaten path when it comes to true North Loop breweries, but it is literally located off a path that takes walkers, joggers, and bikers to the Mississippi and across the iconic Stone Arch Bridge. This brewery has a patio out front, which means they host some cool events in the summertime outside their tap room. Being a little outside the hustle and bustle also has its advantages when it comes to space, as Pryes is pretty spacious. If you go, be sure to try their giant (and I mean giant) soft pretzel.

First Draft Beer
If you're going to a Minnesota Twins game, First Draft is a must beforehand. Located literally across the street from the ballpark, this restaurant and bar is unique in it's concept. Patrons get a wristband upon entering, which is then used to serve yourself from their giant selection of beers and wines. Just grab a glass, hold your wristband up to the tap of your choice, and pour. Your wristband keeps track of what and how much you drank, so when you're ready to leave it's all totaled up for payment. Any beer you could want is probably available here and they also have a few wine selections on tap. Additionally, they do serve food so you can grab dinner at the same time as your drinks. Just ask for a menu! Also, be sure to grab a pic under their purple neon sign in the back of the bar!

Inbound BrewCo
This spot, located off 5th street (the same street Target Field is on!) is just a few paces from other North Loop breweries…bar crawl anyone? Inbound usually has a food truck and their garage-like doors open up when weather is warm. Plus, their bartenders are the nicest and are always attentive to customers. P.S.: This spot is SUPER dog friendly! There's always a few dogs lounging around while their owners drink. If you're looking to host an event, Inbound also has a small upstairs area that can be used for birthday parties or small gatherings.
