Mikkeller Brewing San Diego
Mikkeller, the Danish brewery is pretty well-known brand now with tasting rooms all over the world; Bangkok Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, Copenhagen but the first brick an morter brewery opened in San Diego in 2016 in the old Ale Smith location. At Mikkeller SD you can find more experimental beers with a focus on hazy IPAs and barrel aged pastry stouts. The tasting room also has a really cool & fun vibe and is located on Miramar.

Eppig Brewing Waterfront Biergarten
While most breweries in San Diego are in industrial areas, the Eppig Brewing Waterfront Biergarten has the best view and atmosphere. Drinking a beer with an ocean view just tastes better. Eppig focuses more on traditional German & European style beers, so you won’t find crazy hazy IPAs, pastry stouts or milkshake IPAs here. I also find more lagers at this brewery than most others in San Diego. If you want a beer that tastes like beer, this is the spot to be. They also have their main location in North Park which is right next to Pariah Brewering and June Shine.

Gravity Heights
really enjoyed the Torrey Porter, which is what I have in this photo but wasn’t a fan of the breakfast stout with coffee. I found the stout to be too watery without any flavor where as the porter was full bodied with tastes of chocolate and caramel. - The food here is also amazing. I had the fried halloumi cheese with olive oil and honey 🤤 and the mezze plate with hummus, tzatziki and falafel.

Modern Times Beer
If you follow me on Instagram you know that I spend a lot of time at this brewery. There are three locations in San Diego, but I would suggest going to the main location first. MOdern Times is quickly becoming one of the most popular breweries in the country for a reason, they make awesome beer and have great tasting rooms. However, because they serve food and coffee in their locations, it is not dog friendly like most breweries in San Diego. I usually go for the barrel aged stouts they have on draft, because the tap list is always changing its hard to recommend specific beers. If you also get a chance to attend one of their festivals, DO IT! Carnival of Caffeination is my favorite.

AleSmith Court
Ale Smith is located on what we affectionately called “Beermar” in San Diego. Miramar road has a number of breweries so you can easily spend a whole day checking out spots in this area alone. Ale Smith is one of my favorite spots, even before moving to San Diego. Ale Smith is also one of the older craft breweries in San Diego, they have been around for more than 20 years. Their speedway stout is one of my favorites and I absolutely love the Hawaiian and Thai variants. Their more popular variant is the Vietnamese Speedway Stout which is also delicious. The tasting room is huge, with rotating food trucks, a spacious private events room, a barrel aged speak easy and plenty of dogs. Because the food trucks are outside the tasting room you can bring your dogs in and I can give them all the love if I ever see them.
