Best hole-in-the-wall dives to hide out and enjoy a cheap pint 🍻 in a judgement free zone!

Surf Bar
Great locals dive bar in Folly Beach. Nice fireplace outside and dog friendly. The onion rings are awesome!

Cutty's
Dark windowless joint with an alternative crowd and just a block from one of my favorite restaurants, Chubby Fish. Try the “Mexican Ashtray” if you want to drink like a regular but expect your guts to be crook the next morning!

The Commodore
This place is where you want to go late night for energetic, live music every night from Wed to Sat. Dark and divey with a typically young and diverse crowd, it’s definitely worth a stop - but don’t go wandering around the neighborhood blacked out drunk after!

Burns Alley Tavern
Cool dive bar tucked away in an alley off lower King Street, so often missed by the tourists thankfully. Good spot to watch a game, feed the juke box or play a video game while going several pints deep!

The Royal American
Everything I’d expect if I were drinking at a biker bar in Reno, Nevada circa the late 80’s / early 90’s... in the best way possible. There are two outdoor decks which are great spots to chill when the weather is nice. I love the old school leather chairs, stool cushions and booths.

Salty Mike's
Real dive, not easy to find (below the Marina Variety Store off Lockwood Drive). One of the few options downtown to slug cheap beers by the water. Expect to make friends with random people who live on their sailboats right off the dock!

The Windjammer
Great dive bar featuring live music and with a deck overlooking the beach and ocean (and a beach volleyball court) on beautiful Isle of Palms.
