Cardigan Donuts
Cardigan Donuts has the best old fashioned donut I've ever had in my life. And I've had a lot of old fashioned donuts. I am a big fan of simpler donuts (vs. the ones topped with fried chicken and maple syrup) and this place does both really well. The line can get pretty crazy before working hours, but the employees move people through quite quickly. They also have cold brew coffee and Kombucha on tap. You'll be the office hero if you stop by here for a couple dozen before your big Friday morning meeting. Recommendations: 1. Old Fashioned Donut 2. Chicken and Waffle Donut (special)

Rose Street Patisserie
Rose Street is so special. It's a place to go with a friend you haven't seen in months, a place to spend hours chatting and splitting different pastries. They believe our culture prevents us from slowing down, taking a seat, and reconnecting with those we love. The interior is something out of a magazine, and the patio is sunny. The pastry chef here is one of the country's best... he's won awards for his work. If I haven't convinced you to go to Rose Street yet, they also have wine and beer in the evenings. Recommendations: 1. Any of their pastries 2. Quiche

Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery
(apple valley) Why did it take me so long to try Kerri's cupcakes from Small Cakes in Apple Valley? They are life changing. So many cupcakes are dry, not these! Small Cakes' cupcakes are so moist, even 3 days after purchasing them! They also do weekly specials that are not to be missed. The people behind Small Cakes put their whole heart into what they do, and that effort pays off!

The Copper Hen Cakery & Kitchen
This place is a restaurant interior designer's (is that an actual job??) dream. The inside is so gorgeous, they actually hold wedding rehearsals and receptions in the space quite often. I think the food is a little too hyped up for what it is / the price, but nothing beats a girls' brunch on a Sunday afternoon, drinking Copper Hen's bloodys with a cupcake on top and sharing a basket of homemade bread. Their cocktails are all creative and very instagrammable as well. Recommendations: 1. Any of their cupcakes (I prefer their regular cupcakes over their boozy ones) 2. Bread Basket for the table 3. Classic Deviled Eggs 4. Brussels Caesar (one of my favorite salads in Mpls.) 5. Fish and Chips

Alma
This place is a classic brunch place. I promise you, if you take someone you want to impress here, you will exceed expectations. I love the high windows that let a ton of sunlight into the café, the great coffee and tea selection, and the unique and yummy cocktail list. All of their dishes have fresh ingredients that remind me of something my grandma would make, but with a trendier twist. The atmosphere is comfortable; a place that makes me feel cozy, loved, and happy all at once. Don't get Alma Cafe confused with the actual restaurant, Restaurant Alma (which I shockingly still need to visit.) Recommendations: 1. Yogurt & Almond Crème 2. Fried Egg Sandwich (don’t get me started) 3. Assorted breads from the bakery 4. Bloody Mary

Milkjam Creamery
Milkjam gets a lot of hype, but for the right reasons. It's been featured on food videos and shows, especially because of their "jam buns" - two Glam Doll Donuts with Milkjam ice cream inside. All of their flavors are creatively named and are like no ice cream you've had before. Beware of the lines in the summer, they're usually out the door. Looking for somewhere to eat prior? Go to Eat Street Kitchen - it's attached to Milkjam and has awesome fast-casual options. Recommendations: 1. Jam Bun 2. Boozy Ice Cream

The Lynhall
Lynhall is like nothing else we have in Minneapolis. The place is so unique. They have a Kitchen Studio in the back that anyone from an aspiring Youtuber to a chef wanting to capture recipes can utilize. The space itself is massive and absolutely stunning. Beautiful flowers, large farm tables, and a gorgeous bar make this place somewhere at which I could transition from breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, to after dinner drinks. Their dinner menu is simple, but everything I've tried is fantastic. I'd come here for happy hour or for a coffee meeting with someone you wish to impress. Recommendations: 1. Espresso Tonic – very interesting and worth a try! 2. Any of their sweets 3. Roast Chicken 4. Beet Farro Salad 5. Pamona Cocktail
