One of the top tourist spots when in Luang Prabang is to take a day trip to Kuang Si waterfalls. Located 29km south of Luang Prabang you can arrange the trip through a tour company, or to save money rent a scooter and make your own way there. Once you see the signs, you will have to park up and pay a local boatman to take you upstream to the main entrance of the falls. Enjoy the rainforest surroundings with many smaller falls and then see the majestic 3 tier levelled Kuang Si waterfall. Up for an adventure? then you can take a short hike up through the jungle to reach the top of the waterfall where you can enjoy a refreshing swim

Enjoy the buzzing atmosphere of this densly populated city where there are more scooters than people. You'll never see roads as busy as here, and to cross the road you just have to step out into traffic, where amazingly all the scooter riders will make their way around you. Also enjoy a traditional Vietnamese Egg Coffee. In general just enjoy the busy city life and explore. Want to relax then take your pick of its many traditional massage and spa parlours

Away from mainland Vietnam its definitely worth a trip to stay in Cat Ba island. Here you can arrange a day trip and explore the iconic islands of Ha Long bay, which consists of thousands of limestone islands topped with rainforests. This is also where the "Kong: Skull Island" film was produced

Like most major cities, enjoy the energy or busy city life. If you want to look for bargains then a look around Ben Thanh market is up your street. Remember to haggle down from the first price that is given as this is generally the 'tourist price' and you can get at least 30% from that price. Just around the corner from the market look out for the Ben Thanh street food market and enjoy a spot of lunch, or come in the evening for a cheap dinner and drinks
